Oregon Wine Competition® Announces 2019 Changes and First Three Judges!

MEDFORD, Ore.—The Oregon Wine Experience® is thrilled to announce a stellar selection of renowned judges secured for the 2019 Oregon Wine Competition®. This is the first year that sommeliers will join the judges table. In addition to prestigious wine certifications from around the world, each of the judges is a respected educator in the world of wine, and their contributions range from authorship and consultation to patent and business ownership. The international expertise at the judges table will position the Oregon Wine Experience® as one of the prestigious wine events in the country. The second change is the competition dates move to July 20-21 and will be hosted at the Ashland Hills Hotel & Suites. Look for the release of the final three judges to kick off Oregon Wine month in May.

The judges for the 2019 Oregon Wine Competition® include:

  • · Ashley Hausman, MW – Owner and Education/Business Consultant of Mistral Wine Co., Teacher at Wine Education Institute, Former Chair of Colorado Wine Industry Development Board. Recently awarded the Commanderie de Bordeaux aux Etats Unis Scholarship.
  • · Andrey Ivanov, MS – The National Wholesale Manager for his company, Bliss Wine Imports based in San Francisco. Recognized as one of the top sommeliers in the U.S. by Wine Enthusiast, Wine & Spirits and Food and Wine Magazine.
  • · Ellen Landis, CS, CSW – Published wine writer, Certified Sommelier, Certified Wine Specialist and wine educator. She is the author of the blog EllenOnWine.com and write for AWS Wine Journal among other publications.

Note: Master of Wine (MW) is the most prestigious title in the world of wine and is issued by The Institute of Masters of Wine in the United Kingdom. There are currently only 383 Masters of Wine in 30 countries.

Note: Master Sommelier (MS) is issued by The Court of Master Sommeliers. There are only 255 Master Sommelier professionals worldwide.
